Texas receives Big 12 rowing recognition

Texas' 1V8 was named Big 12 Boat of the Week after defeating defending First Eight national champion Stanford at the Longhorn Invite. The Longhorns crew posted a time of 6:00.969 to win on open water ahead of the Cardinal boat (6:03.353). Texas fell behind early in the first run and trailed at halftime before winning the race. UT's time was nearly three seconds faster than No. 2 Stanford, nearly 20 seconds faster than No. 14 Ohio State and over 25 seconds faster than No. 12 Virginia. It is the boat's second award of the season, having accepted the award on April 10.
