Craignair Inn by the Sea and Causeway Restaurant win the Tourism Award at the Annual Governors Conference

The Craignair Inn by the Sea and Causeway Restaurant received the Leadership and Growth Award from the Maine Office of Tourism. The 2024 Maine Tourism Awards recipients were announced during the Governors' Conference on Tourism on April 25, 2024 in Portland, Maine.

The annual awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that have excelled in the industry and made significant contributions to the growth of tourism in Maine.

“Innkeepers Greg and Lauren Soutiea are honored to be recognized for their community-focused and environmentally conscious efforts,” The Craignair said in a press release. “With their carbon footprint in mind, they are expanding the inn and building their brand with care and attention to details such as solar panels and electric vehicles. They support their employees, donate monthly to local nonprofits, and encourage professional development.”

“The owners of Craignair Inn by the Sea are leaders in hospitality in many ways,” said Steve Lyons, director of the Maine Office of Tourism. “From energy-efficient building renovations to restaurant expansions and a commitment to being open year-round, they have consistently taken action to support local jobs and increase the attractiveness of their region to visitors.”

Other honorees this year include Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Oriental Jade, Appalachian Mountain Club Maine Woods Initiative and Wayne Davis of TrainRiders NorthEast. In 2023, the Leadership and Growth Award went to Husson University College of Business, School of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management.

Craignair Inn also won the 2023 Best of Maine Bed and Breakfast award; Small Business of the Year 2022; Innkeepers of the Year 2022.
