Who is the best prospect in baseball in New Jersey? Our selection, your votes

New Jersey is full of baseball talent.

There are those outstanding pitchers with serious fastballs and nasty off-speed stuff, but also a huge variety of position players looking to dominate at the plate and in the field. You can look anywhere in the state for players capable of taking over games and leading their teams to victory.

As part of our season-long coverage, the baseball team will conduct seven polls to determine the best pitcher and position player for seniors, juniors and sophomores, as well as an overall poll for freshmen. These polls take place every week for four consecutive weeks and it's up to you – the readers – to choose the winners.

Do these polls play a role in the selection of postseason awards? NO. This is simply an opportunity for our readers to choose who they think is the best.

Junior polls run until Wednesday May 8th, with voting closing at 12pm.

Here are important facts about player selection:

  • Players were selected exclusively from the baseball team.
  • The selection was supported by statistics entered for each game on
  • Players only appear at one position – pitcher or a defensive position.
  • Position players include: first base, second base, shortstop, third base, catcher and outfield.

Scroll down to see the candidates and then cast your vote for the best young player.

We know you take these surveys seriously. Us too. We ask that you comply with these guidelines. Organized voting campaigns involving friends, family, and school communities are fine. Please note that the survey considers quick votes from each individual IP as an attack and puts that IP in a timeout. The use of automation, technical improvements, or other unnatural tactics intended to skew results may result in votes being invalidated.
