South Carolina is close to a top 8 national seed in the latest D1Baseball field with 64 predictions

After winning their second series of the season last weekend over a team ranked in the top five at the time, that opponent was the then-No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats, Mark Kingston and the South Carolina Gamecocks are enjoying a resurgence heading into the home stretch of the regular season. After playing a schedule that pitted them against eight top-25 teams, four of them on the road, Carolina has many key metrics like strength of schedule and RPI in their favor right now. Combine that with a winning record in what is undoubtedly the toughest conference in college baseball, and the folks at are thrilled with the team's current position heading into postseason play, placing them at No. 10 overall their recent Field of 64 projections.

If the Gamecocks are able to crack the top eight before regional play begins, they would not only have home-field advantage for their regional, but also for the Super Regionals should they advance to that point. With Missouri playing No. 19 Georgia and No. 3 Tennessee to close out the regular season, they still have several opportunities to strengthen their record even further.
