Driver injured when gravel truck rolls over near Hankinson – InForum

HANKINSON, N.D. – A South Dakota man suffered serious injuries in a rollover accident in Richland County on Thursday, May 2.

At about 11:25 a.m., 34-year-old Justin Pond of Milbank, South Dakota, was driving a Mack Truck Tractor and pulling a gravel trailer west on Richland County Highway 21, according to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Near the intersection of 94 1/2 Avenue Southeast, about 2 miles southwest of Hankinson, Pond failed to negotiate a curve and drove into the north ditch, the release said. The truck rolled onto its roof.

Pond was wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, patrol officials said. He was taken to Sanford Hospital and cited for failure to maintain lane.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the Staff headline. Often the name “Stab” is used when rewriting basic short messages that come from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story includes many authors or when the story is created by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, this will be noted in the story.
