The treats from Maine's newest bakery look as good as they taste

We love sharing positive news with you.

With so many businesses closing in Central Maine over the last few years, it's great to be able to tell you about a new business opening.

We found out this morning that Augusta has a new bakery.

According to a post on the Augusta, Maine – A Capital Happening Facebook page, a young woman named Jessie Marie has opened J. Marie Cake Company.

Located at 319 Water Street in Augusta, J. Marie Cake Company resembles something you would see in an old movie. Jess runs an old school bakery where she makes amazing baked goods.

If your idea of the perfect breakfast is a muffin or pastry and a coffee, you'll love this place.

In a recent Facebook post, she explained that she had done the following:

Banana bread, scones, cinnamon rolls, lemon blueberry rolls, raspberry rolls with pastry cream, raspberry lemon muffins, mascarpone tarts, chocolate chip muffins

She also mentioned that it sold out at 10:30 earlier this week. So if you plan to stop by, don't wait too long. Yes, the place is that good.

Jessie also creates some incredibly beautiful wedding cakes.

Just a quick look at the bakery's Facebook page will give you an idea of what they are capable of creating. A cake that looks like a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice, or a cake that looks like a bucket of Smirnov ice bottles.

For more information on everything they have to offer, visit their Facebook page.

We are thrilled to see Jess opening her bakery in downtown Augusta and wish her all the best.
