Baseball hosts No. 20 NC State

TALLAHASSEE – No. 7 Florida State (34-9, 13-8) hosts No. 20 NC State (25-17, 12-9) for the third consecutive year in the ACC rankings. The three-game series begins Friday at 6 p.m. when the Seminoles return home after two consecutive away weekends.

Florida State had the week off after their series win at No. 6 Duke.


The last time the wolf pack came to Tallahassee, Jaime Ferrer hit a walk-off home run in the 17th minuteTh inning to win the series for FSU. The game was the second of a doubleheader, as the teams combined to go 26 innings that Sunday. It was the fourth game in FSU history to reach 17Th inning or later.


At Duke last weekend, the bats kept firing as Ferrer opened the series with a three-run blast followed by a solo home run on Saturday. His 14 home runs include nine in ACC play, the most on the team. Ferrer's double on Sunday extended his winning streak to a team-high seven games.


Cam Smiths Single in the first inning of Sunday's contest extended his on-base streak to 53 consecutive games, tied with Doug Mientkiewicz (1994-95) for the eighth-longest streak in program history. James Tibbs III doubled and hit a home run in the series finale; His 18 home runs lead the team and Tibbs' 15 doubles are close to the team lead. Tibbs' 45 career home runs are tied for ninth in FSU history (Ed Fulton, 1985-87).


On the hill, Connor Hults earned his third save of the season in a draw on Friday Burn Oxford And Carson Dorsey for the team management. Dorsey earned his first win as a starter and freshman John Abraham He clinched the series for the Seminoles with his first career save. Abraham is the seventh Seminole with a save this year.


After being defeated by Louisville in early April, NC State has won three straight weekend series, including ACC games against No. 2 Clemson and No. 11 North Carolina.
