TLH Airport is seeing an increase in passenger traffic following the launch of JetBlue

Tallahassee International Airport is seeing an increase in passenger traffic following JetBlue's debut.

After a decade of development, the New York-based budget airline launched its first service from Tallahassee to Fort Lauderdale in early January. Tallahassee Airport Director David Pollard said the city is “very pleased with the response so far.”

“From the start, we asked and hoped the community would respond, and the community responded,” Pollard told the Tallahassee Democrat. “This is reflected in our passenger numbers.”

In a recent discussion with JetBlue officials, Pollard said the airline was “also pleased.”

Tallahassee Airport officials publish a monthly report on departures and arrivals. He said passenger traffic increased by 15.16% year-on-year. From March 2023 to last month, passenger traffic increased by 11.48%.

When asked if JetBlue's flight was full each day, Pollard did not provide details on the day's outlook. Instead, he said the airport provides a monthly passenger report and “I can't provide any details on that.”

JetBlue did not respond to requests for comment about the new service from Tallahassee.

Direct flight to South Florida provides international access to more than 100 destinations, including Latin America, South America, the Caribbean, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The new flight from Tallahassee is the latest route for JetBlue, which is expanding its air travel network throughout Florida. The most recent domestic travel route was launched in Jacksonville with direct flights to Fort Lauderdale.

“Overall, we are very pleased with the service and where it stands today,” Pollard said. “We certainly hope the community continues to respond. If (residents) do this, we may get additional frequencies and possibly even additional destinations.”
