**What conditions are ideal for farmers to successfully grow tropical fruits in Florida?

Scientists at the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Ag Sciences say this question is a major problem when communicating with new and potential farmers.

UF faculty and the Miami-Dade Extension office are hosting a free workshop this Thursday titled “Climate Risks and Opportunities for Tropical and Subtropical Crop Production in Florida.”

**The National Agricultural Aviation Association is participating in Ag on the Mall this week at the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Under the theme “Future of Food and Agriculture,” it features America's equipment manufacturers, farmers, ranchers and innovators, all working to advance the tradition of doing more with less environmental impact.

The NAAA will display a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter equipped with a liquid spray system for applying crop protection products.

**The U.S. government is collecting ground beef samples from retail stores in states where there are avian influenza outbreaks in dairy cows.

According to Reuters, the government is confident that meat supplies are secure.

Both the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have said the overall public health risk is low, but it is higher for those exposed to infected animals.
