DICKINSON, N.D. — Bismarck scored 15 runs in the first three innings to secure a 15-5, five-inning victory over Fargo North in the opening round of the North Dakota Class B state softball tournament at Sanford Sports Complex on Thursday.

North was the top seed in the East Region.

Bismarck Sr. Brielle Wrangham went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Demons senior shortstop Jersey Mountain added two hits and five RBIs. Junior left fielder Olivia Kalbus led the Spartans with two hits, while the second-year catcher Kenleigh Fisher added three RBIs.

Minot won the first round 7-5 against Grand Forks Red River. The Majettes scored four runs in the sixth inning to take the win. Senior Center Fielder Ellington Anderson led Minot with a hit, two RBIs and also scored two runs. Red River Second Baseman Mya Mannausau went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Minot will play Bismarck in the state championship semifinals on Friday at 5 p.m. (CST).

West Fargo took a 10-9 win in eight innings over Mandan in the quarterfinals. West Fargo Senior Aubrey Finn had the game-winning hit in the eighth inning to score Junior Kendel Krenz. Krenz finished with three hits and two RBIs.

Dickinson earned a 14-4 win in five innings over West Fargo Sheyenne in the final game of the opening round. Senior Pitcher Ava Jahner went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and also scored three runs. She also earned the complete victory for the West Region's top seed.

Dickinson will play West Fargo in the state championship semifinals on Friday, scheduled 35 minutes after the Bismarck-Minot semifinal.
