This is what happened to British basketball player Georgia Amoore during her trip to China with the Australian national team

Kentucky point guard Georgia Amoore played in all three games for the Australian national team during the Olympic preparation series against China, which concluded on Sunday.

Amoore, an All-American at Virginia Tech, moved to UK in the offseason after Hokies boss Kenny Brooks replaced Kyra Elzy as head coach of the Wildcats' basketball team.

Amoore, a native of Ballarat, Victoria, is one of 26 players trying to secure one of the 12 places on the national team squad that will represent Australia at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11.

Australia's trip to China was the first in a series of training sessions and exhibition matches that the team will use to determine the best combination of players for the trip to France.

The 5ft 6in Amoore took part in the China series having previously represented Australia at the U-16 Asian Cup (gold medal) and the U-18 World Championship (bronze medal), but this was her first appearance for the primary national team.

Australia defeated China 72-70 in its opening match on Wednesday. Amoore had one rebound and one steal and was scoreless in 15 minutes and 46 seconds of play.

The Aussies defeated China again on Friday, 80-72. Amoore finished with two points, a rebound and an assist in 6:27.

The series ended on Sunday with a 75-68 win for China, while Australia rested some of its experienced players. Amoore played seven minutes and seven seconds and contributed three rebounds and two assists, but did not score a point.

Australia will be back in action at the Mitsui Fudosan Cup in Japan on June 20-21, then host the Ford BALLIN'24 Series in Australia from July 3-5. The team's final warm-up for Paris is the Spain Invitational Tournament on July 22-23.

The team has not provided a timeline as to which players will participate in those competitions or when it will assemble its final roster for the Olympics.

New Kentucky point guard Georgia Amoore said she is putting pressure on herself to make the national team that will represent Australia at this summer's Olympics, but she is also aware of the challenge.
