BREAKING NEWS: Badgers sign three-star center back from Illinois

The Wisconsin Badgers have secured the commitment of three-star cornerback Jahmare Washington for 2025, he announced on Sunday.

Washington's signing is the Badgers' fourth during official visits, joining cornerback Rukeem Stroud and offensive linemen Logan Powell and Nolan Davenport.

The Badgers made a new offer to Washington in February and made a major effort to secure an official visit that was originally scheduled for next weekend.

However, Washington decided to bring forward its visit by a weekend, which ultimately led to the commitment following its official visit last weekend.

Washington is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback who has the length and athleticism the Badgers look for in their outside cornerbacks and is the second cornerback in the class alongside Stroud.

In addition, the Badgers could use the athlete Remington Moss as a cornerback, as his height of 6'3″ and weight of 185 lbs make him suitable for both positions as a defensive back.

Overall, Washington is the sixth defensive back to join the Badgers, joining another strong class at the position during the Luke Fickell era that already included Moss, Stroud, Grant Dean, Luke Emmerich and Jaimier Scott.

Washington, an Illinois native, was one of the Badgers' favorite targets at cornerback, along with Tre Poteat and Zadian Gentry, both of whom visited last weekend.

He is the first player from this weekend's visiting group to commit and the 15th overall for the Badgers in their class of 2025.
