Prediction for Kentucky vs. Florida, tips in the 2024 CWS bracket

OMAHA, Nebraska — Kentucky's baseball team plays Tuesday to resume its season. Florida will do the same — for the second day in a row.

UK lost 5-1 to Texas A&M on Monday. Florida had previously beaten NC State 5-4 in an elimination game. Now the Wildcats and Gators will battle it out on Tuesday night. The winner will face Texas A&M on Wednesday night.

After winning its first six games since the start of the NCAA Tournament, Kentucky is now just one loss away from completing a historic season.

In 2024, the Wildcats will face the Gators, an SEC rival they have already played against three times.

In that May 10-12 road series, UK won two of the three games in Gainesville, Florida. Kentucky earned an extra-innings victory in Game 1, defeating the hosts 12-11 in 10 innings. The Gators rebounded to score a 10-1 victory in Game 2. UK won Game 3 – and the series – in another extra-innings game, escaping with a 7-5 triumph in 10 innings.

Kentucky: According to BetMGM, the Wildcats have the third-best odds to win the College World Series at +350.

Kentucky 9, Florida 8: The Gators can compete with the best in the country, hitting 133 home runs this season, fourth-best in Division I. And they also have the best player on the field: world-class offensive prodigy Jac Caglianone, who set Florida's season record (34) with a second-inning home run on Monday. But as good as the Gators are at scoring runs, they're almost as good at helping opponents do it. As a team, Florida has the worst earned run average (6.16) in the SEC and allows more walks per game (4.74) than any other team in the league. Top to bottom, Kentucky is the better team. It won't be easy: Florida is 7-1 in elimination games over the past two seasons. But this year's Wildcats have won in almost every way imaginable. They'll last longer in a slugfest than Caglianone and the Gators, securing a rematch with the Aggies.
