OMAHA, Nebraska – Florida baseball faces another challenge against a familiar foe when it faces another SEC opponent – Kentucky – at Charles Schwab Field in the College World Series on Wednesday.

The Florida Gators (35-29) played Kentucky three times during the regular season and lost two of three games to the Wildcats (46-15) in their last home series May 10-12 at Condron Family Ballpark.

Since then, Florida has been on the road, a route that has taken UF from Athens, Georgia, to Hoover, Alabama, to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Clemson, South Carolina, and to Omaha.

The Gators will face Kentucky in an elimination game, with the winner moving on to face Texas A&M on Wednesday. Florida improved its record to 7-1 in its last eight elimination games of the NCAA Tournament with a 5-4 win over North Carolina State on Monday.

“When our backs are against the wall, we've played our best baseball, hands down,” Florida left fielder Tyler Shelnut said. “I think knowing that we have confidence in ourselves going into these games, there's never a moment where we panic or feel that pressure.”
