Badgers News: Wisconsin the “first choice” for Illinois OLB 2025 after visit

The Wisconsin Badgers recently welcomed 2025 outside linebacker Jack Burzynski, who camped with the team last week and ultimately won the award as the day's best linebacker.

A native of Barrington, Illinois, Burzynski stands 6'4″ and weighs 220 pounds and came to camp looking to prove he was worth taking a chance on with a preferred walk-on offer.

“I had a fantastic day,” Burzynski said after practice. “I think I showed Coach Mitch (OLBs coach Matt Mitchell) everything he wanted to see. I have to prove to him that I can go in here and earn a scholarship.”

Wisconsin extended the preferred walk-on offer after a workout last month, and that is Burzynski's first choice for the summer at the moment, as it was “always a dream” to attend that school.

The final hurdle to achieving that goal is now to perform well both on the field and in school, but the Badgers would like to have Burzynski in their class of 2025.

“[Coach Mitchell] said he wants me in this program and needs me in his outside linebacker room.”

Burzynski reportedly has an offer from Southern Illinois, but currently Wisconsin appears to be his first choice, and he is excited to enter as a preferred walk-on in hopes of eventually earning the coveted scholarship.
