College World Series Tips: Texas A&M vs Florida Betting Guide

Known rivals Florida and Texas A&M meet again Wednesday night on ESPN. It's an important game for both teams, especially Texas A&M. The exact time of first pitch in this game will depend on when Tennessee vs. Florida State finishes the previous game at Charles Schwab Field.

The Aggies, who are undefeated in Omaha, can reach the College World Series with a win over Florida tonight. The Gators must beat Texas A&M twice in a row to book a ticket to the CWS championship series.

Gators and Aggies meet again in Omaha

These teams have faced each other four times this season, including in the opening game of the College World Series for both teams last Saturday, June 15.

Texas A&M and Florida provided plenty of drama for their fans in a 3-2 game that the Gators nearly won when Cade Kurland hit a hit into right field in the ninth inning. But Kurland's lead-winning home run was denied by a Jace LaViolette diving catch off the wall, allowing the Aggies to survive. Texas A&M got the final out of the night with a strikeout two batters later and secured the win.

That result sent Texas A&M to the winners bracket, where they beat Kentucky 5-1 on Monday. Florida, on the other hand, had to beat NC State and Kentucky (15-4 the previous Wednesday) to reach the rematch on Wednesday.

In their regular-season series in March, the first in SEC play for both clubs, Florida took two of three wins against the Aggies in Gainesville, with 8-6 and 4-2 victories between a 10-6 loss in the second game.

Texas A&M (51-13) finished 19-11 in the SEC and headed to Omaha as one of the favorites to win the game outright, while Florida (36-29) entered the CWS as a total underdog after finishing just 13-17 in the crowded SEC this year. But no one who has seen these teams' previous meetings should be surprised that the bookmakers are considering this a fluke.

Texas A&M vs. Florida – Analysis, best tips

Wednesday night's game is difficult to predict, as Florida already had a must-win game against Kentucky on Wednesday.

This contest was not a real test of nerves for the Gators, however, as they took a 7-1 lead in the first inning and never gave it up. From there, things went smoothly for Florida, who were able to extend their lead to 9-1 in the third inning and add another five points in the fifth inning to put all doubts to rest.

Now star first baseman Jac Caglianone and the Gators have a chance to avenge a close loss to Texas A&M just four days ago. Florida had Caglianone as the first batter against the Wildcats, so they thought twice about walking him, and the move paid off. Eight of Florida's nine batters had at least one hit, with Caglianone among four UF players with at least two hits.

For Florida, the question tonight is how well freshman Liam Peterson, the Gators' projected starter, will hold up on the mound after throwing 64 pitches when these teams met on Saturday.

Who Texas A&M's starting pitcher will be in this game was still unclear at 5 p.m. ET, as the Aggies have several options – only Ryan Prager, who started on Monday against Kentucky, has been ruled out.

The Aggies will be without projected MLB first-round pick Braden Montgomery for the rest of the season because of an injury, and the status of Saturday's hero, LaViolette, is also unclear due to a hamstring injury he suffered on Monday.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Texas A&M's key personnel and the ragtag pitching staff Florida will have to rely on, Over 11.5 (-112 at FanDuel) is the best bet for this matchup.

As far as the best moneyline strategy goes, Florida looks like an underdog given how well it played Wednesday morning. And the Gators' position is only strengthened by the fact that if they don't get a win tonight, their season is over.

Tips: Over 11.5 (-112) at FanDuel; Florida Moneyline (+100) at BetMGM
