Arizona recalls Diamond Shruumz products amid ongoing FDA investigation

The Arizona Department of Health has recalled the mushroom-infused candy “Diamond Shruumz.”

On Wednesday, ADHS warned consumers about the risks associated with the brand's chocolates, wafers and gummy bears following reports of people experiencing serious side effects, including seizures and loss of consciousness, after consuming the products.

ADHS also asked retailers to stop selling and distributing the products until further notice.

The FDA is investigating the brand's products intended for microdosing and sold online and in retail stores, including smoke and vape shops.

In Arizona, six cases have been reported to the two poison control centers so far, and additional cases have been reported in other states.

“The patients had to be transported urgently and examined in the emergency room. In some cases they had to be admitted to the intensive care unit,” says a press release from the ADHS.

ADHS reminded consumers that products labeled “microdosing” are not FDA approved and that unlisted ingredients may pose unknown health risks.

They advised consumers who feel ill after consuming Diamond Shruumz products to contact their doctor or call a poison control hotline. The Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center can be reached at 1-800-222-1222. Patients can report their case to the FDA by filling out an online form.
