OMAHA, Nebraska – The Tennessee baseball team will be on college baseball’s biggest stage on Saturday.

The No. 1 Vols (58-12) and No. 3 Texas A&M (52-13) begin the finale of the College World Series on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. It is a best-of-three series.

Here’s what you should know about the Game 1 duel:

Tennessee and Texas A&M did not play in the regular season, but met in an elimination game in the SEC Tournament. The Vols won 7-4. Texas A&M has not lost a game since, while UT lost once to Evansville in the Knoxville Super Regional.

The pitching duo of Chris Stamos and AJ Causey were effective against the powerful Aggies. They combined for 10 strikeouts in 7⅓ innings and allowed three runs on six hits and two walks. Stamos went 2⅔ innings without a hit before hitting a home run in the third inning, the only hit he allowed as he allowed three strikeouts and a walk. Stamos pitched his best performance of the season, 3⅓ innings.

Kavares Tears was 3-for-5 with four RBIs against the Aggies. He hit a three-run home run to tie the game in the seventh inning.

Tennessee's Christian Moore and Blake Burke destroy pitching in the CWS

Moore and Burke have both hit 7-for-14 in three games and combined for 11 runs with eight RBIs at the top of Tennessee's lineup.

Moore went 5 for 6 in UT's opening game against Florida State, becoming the second player in history to hit a cycle in the CWS. He has two doubles, two triples and a six-run home run. He has three RBIs. Burke has five runs and five RBIs with a home run.

The Vols have a fresh pitching staff in the College World Series

Tennessee didn't have to deviate far from its usual pitching plan in the CWS thanks to great starts from Drew Beam against North Carolina and Zander Sechrist against Florida State.

The Vols used six pitchers in the opener against Florida State, including Stamos and Causey. Kirby Connell and Nate Snead were relief pitchers in all three games. UT did not use any other relief pitchers against UNC or in its win over FSU on Wednesday.
