How should NH improve highway safety in light of the increasing number of fatalities? Input desired

CONCORD – The New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety has announced it will hold a series of virtual public hearings to gather public input to influence the development of the 2025 Annual Highway Safety Plan.

“Improving New Hampshire's highway safety is a shared responsibility,” said Eddie Edwards, deputy commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Safety. “We are excited to hear the ideas of the state's citizens and hope they will join us in this important conversation.”

The hearings will address the increasing number of fatal road accidents and serious injuries, including:

  • How should the Road Safety Agency respond to the increasing number of fatal traffic accidents?
  • How should the Highway Safety Agency respond to the increasing number of fatal accidents involving unbelted drivers?
  • What obstacles make it difficult for people to get safely from point A to point B on New Hampshire's roads? What strategies can the Office of Highway Safety implement to overcome these obstacles?
  • How can the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety develop and implement innovative and culturally responsive highway traffic enforcement programs?
  • What strategies can the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety implement to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, accountability and impact of our response to the increasing number of fatal crashes?
  • Other related road safety issues of public interest.
