Tallahassee Red Owl Coffee opens Saturday on Mahan Drive

This is the first of two planned stores in Tallahassee.

Rejoice and celebrate as the highly anticipated first Red Owl Coffee in Tallahassee opens on Saturday, June 22nd.

The Georgia-based coffee chain is celebrating its grand opening all day with 50% off all menu items and a drawing for prizes valued at $5 to $25, including gift bags, t-shirts, stickers and gift cards.

This is the first of two planned openings in Tallahassee. The second Red Owl is slated for the former Farm Stores site on Bannerman Road.

The first is a drive-in at the Mahan Square shopping center near Magnolia Drive, where Hip Hop Fish & Chicken, Little India and Greatness Barbershop are located.

As previously reported, the new cafe will replace a former small car wash. The location was previously home to the Brown Bag, a drive-thru sandwich shop.

What to expect

Red Owl offers seven specialty coffee drinks as well as espressos, frappes, teas, brews, smoothies, shakes and “hoot” energy drinks.

The menu includes breakfast specialties, sandwiches and bowls such as “Wasabi Mommy,” a wrap with chicken strips, vegetables, cucumber wasabi and teriyaki sauce, and the “Sausage Sunrise Bowl,” consisting of vegetables, spinach, egg, pimento cheese and a choice of pork or turkey sausage, garnished with avocado ranch.

According to their website, the chain is currently offering their seasonal summer menu through August 13. The summer menu includes Ocean Beery Hoot (blue raspberry and coconut blend), Kokomo Latte (coconut and white chocolate blend) and the July Moon Latte (strawberry rose and white chocolate blend). Drinks can be served hot, iced or frozen.

People have been eyeing the location since the bright red paint job announced the business venture's welcome. Some curious about the shop asked Tallahassee Foodies members what they can expect. One user commented, “I'm so happy for them. I've heard nothing but good things.”
