Orlando City SC has Alex Freeman ready on the right side

Orlando City SC coaches and scouts are looking for new players to improve their season before MLS rosters are frozen in September, but are there any new additions to the squad that we haven't seen yet?

We saw one of them briefly. In the first minute of second-half stoppage time against Charlotte FC, defender Alex Freeman was substituted for midfielder Ivan Angulo.

When Orlando played with the advantage in the final seconds, the score was even 2-2 against the home team. He made a successful pass. Then he took Orlando's last shot. It was on target, one of the club's nine goals in the game.

Fans may have missed Freeman because this was his only appearance of the season, but his strong performance wasn't luck. He has talent.

He has shown this ability many times before with Orlando City's B team. When that team was down 2-0 against Carolina Core FC, iFreeman started the comeback.

He scored a goal in the 72nd minute and continued to help stabilize the defense. The B team finished the game with a 2-2 draw. Although it was not a win, it was the biggest deficit the team has overcome since August 2023.

He joined Orlando City as part of the U-17 team. He previously developed at Weston Academy as both a defender and a winger, the latter position explaining his advanced attacking skills. He also has a talent for speed, showing the focus needed to keep City competitive.

The right-footer is strongest on the right side of the pitch, both as a defender and as a winger.

When it comes to MLS teams this season, City has been tight-lipped about transfers, scouting rumors and the development of players on the bench, so fans who didn't watch the B team or looked away in stoppage time against Charlotte missed Alex Freeman getting his chance.

Now he has earned it. And more importantly, in his last friendly against Charlotte, he didn't let himself be intimidated and pushed for goal.

Orlando City SC has support on the right side of the pitch when they need it.
