THEY SAY A FORD EXPLORER WAS DRIVING NORTH ON US 25 WHEN IT HIT A PEDESTRIAN WHO WAS TRYING TO CROSS THE STREET. Pedestrian hit and killed while crossing a street in South Carolina

Someone is dead after an SUV struck and killed a pedestrian, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Police said it happened at 2 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 25 near Gantt Street. They said a 2006 Ford Explorer was traveling north on U.S. 25 when it struck someone attempting to cross the road. The driver of the SUV was not injured, but the pedestrian died at the scene. The Greenville County Coroner has not yet released the pedestrian's name.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says someone has died after an SUV struck and killed a pedestrian.

According to police, the accident occurred at 2 a.m. Sunday on US 25 near Gantt Street.

They say a 2006 Ford Explorer was traveling north on US 25 when it struck someone attempting to cross the street. The driver of the SUV was uninjured, but the pedestrian died at the scene.

The Greenville County Coroner has not yet released the pedestrian's name.
