7-on-7 State Tournament

When where: Thursday through Saturday at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.

Championship games: Division II and Division III teams will play their championship games on Friday. Division I teams will play their championship game on Saturday. Playing fields and game times are subject to change due to logistical factors such as weather and field conditions.

Coaching: High school coaches are not permitted to serve as coaches or stand on the sidelines with the team. All teams must be accompanied at all events by a coach who will serve as the school administrator for their teams. This person is responsible for the actions of their school's representatives.

How defensive-minded coaches are using 7-on-7 football to prepare for the fall

Headgear: All participants must wear a face mask and a cap-style softshell helmet. The Adidas Force PRO, GameBreaker – PRO and Gamebreaker Multi-Sport softshell headgear are the only headgear that meets the Texas State 7-on-7 Organization's safety standards.

Permit: Spectators have free admission.

First League: Midlothian Heritage, Flower Mound Marcus, Anna, Rockwall, Coppell, North Crowley, Allen, Trophy Club Byron Nelson, Colleyville Heritage, Kaufman, Richardson Berkner, DeSoto, Frisco Wakeland, Lovejoy, Argyle, Terrell, Mesquite Horn, Keller Central, Lewisville, Northwest Eaton, Frisco Centennial

Department II: Lake Dallas, Kimball, Celina, Frisco Panther Creek

Defending champion: Round Rock in Division I, Hitchcock in Division II, Miles in Division III

Distribution of divisions: The tournament is split into three divisions. Division I includes teams competing in UIL Class 5A or 6A (public), SPC or TAPPS Division I (private). Division II consists of teams competing in UIL Class 4A and 3A Division I (public), and all other private schools. Division III includes teams in UIL Class 1A through 3A Division II (public).

Management body: The Texas State 7-on-7 Organization hosts the tournament and is not affiliated with the University Interscholastic League or the Texas High School Coaches Association. Its governing body is made up of select coaches from across the state.

This is how the teams qualified for the state tournament: Teams have qualified at one of the State Qualifying Tournaments (SQTs) held throughout Texas. SQTs range in size from 8-team tournaments to 32-team tournaments. The number of qualifiers depends on the total number of teams participating. For example, in an 8-team SQT, one team qualifies, and in a 16-team SQT, two teams qualify.
