Atlanta Braves News: Orlando Arcia leaves the team early, Ray Kerr has to undergo Tommy John surgery and more

I think many people felt that the Braves would have better luck with injuries after the 2023 season.

Unfortunately, the 2024 season didn’t feel that way.

Monday brought more disappointing injury news for Atlanta, both before and during Monday night's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals. The Braves' courageous comeback attempt should have been the news of the night, but that was not to be the case.

Early Monday, the Braves announced that Ray Kerr, who had some very interesting performances as a starter and reliever earlier this season, will undergo Tommy John surgery. Kerr is the last significant pitcher in the franchise to suffer that fate this season.

During the game, shortstop Orlando Arcia was forced to leave the game early due to dizziness. Justin Toscano of the AJC stated that Arcia could get at least a day off to fully recover.

Stephen Tolbert offered another thought regarding the shortstop position, considering the idea that the Braves may be looking to add to the position at the trade deadline.

Geraldo Quintero had a pretty good game in the Braves farm system this weekend.

Toscano also stressed that Monday's defeat was due to many minor mistakes.

Spencer Schwellenbach spoke about his performance and said that despite the results, he seemed to have a positive attitude about his overall performance.
