Jaelee Roberts' new single, produced by bassist Byron House, features her powerful and subtle vocals. In addition, “Georgia Rain” (Mountain Home Music Company) features some of Nashville's finest musicians creating a bluegrass original that feels like a classic.

The song begins with mandolin and guitar by Andy Leftwich and Cody Kilby (Travelin' McCourys), accompanied by banjoist Ron Block (Alison Krauss & Union Station), violinist Stuart Duncan and House on bass. In the chorus, Roberts and harmony singer Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) create a striking contrast to the verses:

Had that dream again last night where you came running back to me
I know I should be scared knowing you're here, but you're only here to set me free
The breeze is blowing in my face, the storms are getting really bad this time of year,
Reminds me of when you left me on a day when the sky was so clear
Georgia rain falls,
All memories of you are now drowned out

“I wrote “Georgia Rain” after I experienced my first breakup/heartbreak at the age of 16”, adds Roberts. “Interestingly, the melody came to me first and then the lyrics – which is not my normal songwriting process. I really love this melody and the little twist in the chord structure!”

“Anyone who knows me or has followed my musical journey so far knows that I love a good old heartbreak song,” Roberts adds. “And when rain is part of the scenario, a heartbreak song becomes even lonelier and sadder! When I wrote 'Georgia Rain' it really felt like a movie to me and the words are really vivid. I hope you can all hear it and see it with me when you listen.!”
