NBA Draft: Tristan da Silva selected 18th by Orlando Magic

For the first time, two Colorado Buffaloes were selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. Cody Williams went to Utah with the 10th pick, and now Tristan da Silva is moving to the Orlando Magic with the 18th pick.

Da Silva, a 6'0″ winger from Munich, will make an immediate difference for the Magic. Along with Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, da Silva will join one of the youngest and most versatile frontcourts in the entire NBA.

After coming to Boulder as a complete unknown in 2020, da Silva quickly established himself as a top-notch spot shooter and great ball handler. He's deadly when he gets space from three-point range after the catch-and-shoot and is efficient when driving to the basket.

Orlando is a great place for da Silva. Da Silva has a solid profile as a backup for the Magic, perhaps as an 8th or 9th man. He won't be asked to do much right away, but he will play important minutes as a rookie on a playoff team.

His shooting is a huge advantage for the Magic, as the team doesn't necessarily have many dangerous shooters on the roster. Da Silva is perhaps already the best shooter on the Magic's roster.

Congratulations, Tristan!
