45-pound Chocolate Lab mix named Leslie needs a new home

Hello and welcome to another edition of WMUR's Adopt This Pet! The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford has many cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for permanent homes. After over 550 days with the NH Animal Rescue League, Leslie is looking for her forever home. Leslie is a 2-year-old mixed breed girl who needs a home full of love, patience, and a fenced yard. Leslie's biggest fear is cars. She doesn't like getting in a car or being around cars in general; this makes long walks difficult for her. Although she can walk on a leash, her fear of passing cars has caused her to hide behind bushes to escape them. So Leslie is hoping for a home with a fenced yard. She wants to run around and play in the yard and chase away any squirrels or cats that enter it. Leslie loves to play one-on-one with other dogs, so a home with another playful dog would help her adjust to her new home and family. Although she enjoys other dogs, like most dogs, Leslie doesn't get along with cats. Leslie gets along well with older children who understand that Leslie is a special girl and she just needs time to get to know them; however, she is scared of young children. Like many of us, Leslie suffers from allergies. Thankfully, we know what helps her stay happy and content: a mix of prescription diet and medication, and she's her silly self. Leslie hasn't had an easy life, and so she makes you work hard for her love and affection at first. Once you earn it, you'll realize it was worth it.
