Victims and survivors of deadly Texas plane crash identified – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The NTSB began investigating a fatal plane crash in McKinney on Friday, the same day that Texas DPS determined the identities of two of the crash victims.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), preliminary information indicated that the Cessna 414 took off from McKinney National Airport and impacted the ground in an upside-down position about one mile south of the airport.

It crashed into a hill on a concrete storage yard.

NBC 5 has learned that the pilot and two mechanics were on board when the plane crashed shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The pilot, 67-year-old Michael Lewis, was the father, grandfather and husband of former Forney Mayor Amanda Lewis.

He was also a pilot and, according to his son, volunteered for nearly 150 missions to transport patients to medical treatment free of charge.

“He was an extraordinary pilot,” said Benjamin Lewis. “He is the most incredible person I have ever met.”

Lewis was also CEO of Paluxy Oil and Gas.

After taking off from McKinney National Airport, flight radar showed the plane turning left before crashing.

A witness video shows workers on site extinguishing the flames with hoses.

Texas police identified the second fatality as 53-year-old Gustavo Moreno of Royse City. According to his biography, he was a husband and father of five children.

The sole survivor, who was flown to Parkland Hospital in critical condition, was identified by relatives as Randy Williams, father of a two-year-old son.

His family said Williams is stable, “fighting hard and already doing better.”
