Obituary for George L. Gaskins

George L. Gaskins, 90, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Johnson Memorial Medical Center, Stafford Springs. George was the beloved husband of Irene (Fisk) Gaskins for 65 years. Born October 31, 1926 in Lakeland, Florida, to the late Jerdan and Zoe (Batdorff) Gaskins, he lived in Enfield for the last 50 years and prior to that in West Palm Beach, FL. George honorably served his country in the military for 22 years with the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Air Force. Prior to his retirement, George was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 30 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was very involved for 50 years, serving as receptionist and trustee.
George is also survived by a granddaughter, Tina Norman, and a great-grandson, Keegan Gardner. In addition to his parents, he was survived by his son Douglas Gaskins, his daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Michael Norman, and his grandson Robbie Norman.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George's name may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 38 Front St. West Springfield, MA 01089.
