Dangerous weather forecast issued for southern Connecticut

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT – The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather forecast for southern Connecticut, expecting strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening.

“There is a possibility of isolated strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and into the evening. The greatest danger is damaging wind gusts, but hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Localized flash flooding is also possible,” the weather service said in a statement for southern Connecticut.”

Here are the storm details for southern Connecticut coastlines:

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11pm. Some of the thunderstorms could bring heavy rain. Low around 22°C. South wind 13 to 21 km/h. Chance of precipitation 80%. Ninth rainfall between 0.25 and 0.25mm, but higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m. Some of the storms could bring heavy rain. High around 30 degrees. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 80%. New rainfall amounts between 0.5 and 0.75 inches possible.

Sunday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Low around 64. Southwest wind around 6 mph, becoming northwest in the evening. Chance of precipitation 80%. New precipitation amounts between 0.25 and 0.5 inches possible.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 5 p.m. Some of the thunderstorms could bring heavy rain. Low around 71. South wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation 90%. Nine precipitation amounts between 1/2 and 1/4 inch, but higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, especially after 2 p.m. Some of the thunderstorms could bring heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, high around 30 degrees. Southwest wind 10 to 16 km/h. Chance of precipitation 60%. New precipitation amounts between 0.35 and 1.32 cm possible.

Sunday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, especially before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. A 60% chance of precipitation. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, but higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
