NASCAR Power Rankings 2024: After New Hampshire

There is some movement in the top ten this week in the 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings, but the lower ranks were all equally or should I say equally unlucky? We were lucky to see rain tires back in New Hampshire this season. Even after some questionable decisions by NASCAR in the final laps, it was a fantastic race. I was glad the race was finished even on the wet track.

The last five

Another top-15 finish for Todd. We even saw him in the top-5 a couple of times in New Hampshire. I love it when a smaller team overachieves and Todd has been doing that lately. How he'll do in Nashville, I don't know. It's partly because of his bad past but more because of his recent good performances. He'll most likely be in the top-15 again this weekend though.

A top-five finish in New Hampshire is exactly what this team and its driver needed after a less than stellar finish in Iowa. I'm rooting for his chances this week in Nashville. Both RFK cars looked extremely quick in qualifying.

Joey looked like he had a strong car early in the race. Then something happened on lap 194 that sent Joey's car into another competitor and essentially ended his day. Joey has an uphill battle ahead of him to get back over the cut line for the playoffs and also climb back up the 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings. I don't know if Nashville will be that start, though.

This is a rider and team that need some luck quickly. He didn't score any stage points in New Hampshire, nor did he have a great result (34), especially after being involved in a late crash. They go home with a top ten result and some stage points this week, and I think that counts as a win.

New Hampshire was miserable for Brad. It took him almost a hundred laps to even get into the top 20. That doesn't seem to be the case in Nashville, at least so far. He'll start 5th tomorrow, so we'll see if that was just a blip for Brad.

The top ten of the 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings begin

He was another rider who looked strong early in last Sunday's race in New Hampshire. Then he got lucky again and an early pit stop left a right rear tire loose and he was unable to recover. Personally, I don't think Martin has a good chance this week.

Alex was on pace to probably finish in the top ten last weekend. Then something unexpected happened with a Hendrick Motorsports powered car and an engine failure occurred. I think we'll see Alex bounce back this weekend and finish in the top ten again. Maybe he and his team will even make some adjustments tomorrow and challenge for a win.

Ross went out and made me look bad because I outpaced him in my portion of last week's picks and finished in the top ten. He won this race last year so he knows how to win here and I would absolutely not be surprised to see him finish in victory lane again. Nashville is a slick track and anything can happen.

Ryan dropped a few spots in the 2024 NASCAR Power Rankings this week. He had a great early performance and looked like he might even be in contention for back-to-back wins. Then he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and finished 25th. But that's the way racing goes and he's sure to bounce back this weekend.

He finished sixth in New Hampshire and was the leader when the rain started coming. I clearly consider Tyler to be one of the top five drivers in the Cup Series on a week-to-week basis, similar to Ryan Blaney, but those drivers are the best of the best for a reason, so the competition is tough.

The Top Five

It was a weird day for Willy B after finishing second in Iowa. Chevrolet as a team seemed to struggle in New Hampshire though, so I think Willy will bounce back. Especially considering he finished 6th last year.

A weekend win and his third of the season. C Bell has been on a tear lately and I'm not so sure he won't get another win or two before the playoffs begin.

So he led for 41 laps to open the race in New Hampshire, then picked up stage points in the first and second stages. Yes, 18th isn't what he wanted, but he was involved in Joey Logano's crash earlier in the race. He was able to extend their streak of top-twenty finishes for another week, so that's something.

The rain tires were put on the 911 and his solid performance was gone. However, he had been an early contender for the win before and even won the second stage. Denny set a fast lap in qualifying today and I expect him to be fast tomorrow.

A fourth place finish on a day where Chevrolets weren't strong from the start is no surprise. Kyle drives the cars as far as he can and it pays off more than not. Considering his worst finish in Nashville is fifth, I expect the five cars to be up front early and often.

Nash Vegas, here we come!

I'm glad NASCAR has returned to Nashville, although I wish Fairgrounds Speedway could be a destination at some point. Until then, I'll focus on SuperSpeedway. What can you expect?

Well that's a hard one to answer. I think you should definitely look at solid racing. Who I think will win or who could be competitive, you know where to find that. Hopefully we'll make you some money if you're a betting fan!
