Red Flag Warning starts Monday night for Northern California

The risk of fast-spreading wildfires is expected to increase ahead of intense heat next week in Northern California. The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for parts of the valley. The warning is in effect Monday night through Tuesday. During this time, a dry breeze from the north combined with air temperatures above 100 degrees will increase the risk of dangerous grass and brush fires. Wind gusts of up to 30 mph are expected on the west side of the Sacramento Valley. In other areas of Northern California, including Sacramento and the east side of the valley, winds will be lighter, but grasses and brush will be very dry. Everyone should be cautious outdoors this time of year. Wednesday and Independence Day are expected to be hotter than Tuesday, but winds will be lighter. The risk of rapidly spreading wildfires is likely to increase ahead of the intense heat in Northern California next week.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for parts of the valley. The warning is in effect from Monday night through Tuesday.

During this time, a dry breeze from the north combined with air temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius increases the risk of dangerous grass and bush fires.

Wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour are expected on the west side of the Sacramento Valley.

In other areas of Northern California, including Sacramento and the east side of the Valley, winds will be lighter, but grasses and shrubs will be very dry. Everyone should be cautious outdoors this time of year.

Wednesday and Independence Day are expected to be hotter than Tuesday, but winds are expected to be lighter.
