Phil and Tammy Murphy raise $3.7 million for Joe Biden

President Joe Biden raised $3.7 million to support his re-election campaign at a fundraiser at the home of Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy in Middletown.

Murphy introduced Biden as “America’s comeback kid.”

“This is personal for us,” Murphy told about fifty people in a tent on his back patio overlooking the Navesink River. “You're on fire and we're all behind you 1,000 percent.”

Tammy Murphy, who spoke first, said interest in her increased sharply after Biden debated Donald Trump on Thursday night.

“You are on fire and we are all behind you 1000 percent,” she said.

Biden acknowledged his performance by saying, “It wasn’t my best debate ever, as Barack pointed out.”

“I understand the concern after the debate,” Biden said. “I get it. I didn't have a good night, but I'm going to fight harder.”

But Biden said Trump's lies would sway undecided voters.

“People remember the bad things about his presidency,” Biden said. “I didn't have a good night, but neither did he.”

He told donors that he has “a hell of a lot of plans for the next four years – God willing.”

This was the second time Phil and Tammy Murphy hosted Biden at their home. An event in October 2022, attended by Murphy's friend Jon Bon Jovi, raised over $1 million.

Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-Long Branch) was present.

Americans for Prosperity and Jersey 1st held a protest near Murphy's home.

“With record-high inflation and skyrocketing costs, Americans are feeling the effects of Bidenomics, and Governor Murphy's fiscal year 2025 budget plan is making matters worse,” said AFP Northeast Director Ross Connolly and First-Term Jersey President Rosemary Becchi. “New Jerseyans have had enough.”

Anti-Israel protesters held a separation rally.
