The team's pitching staff was fourth in baseball in fWAR after the preseason Cy Young Award favorite was absent for most of the year. That includes some brutal starts from six starters and two misses from Max Fried early in the season. While the offense has struggled to produce consistently over the past two months, the pitching has held down the fort and kept the team afloat.
