Tornado warning issued for Maine, possible funnel reported

The possible funnel cloud was reported in southern Aroostook County

Strong and severe storms moved through Maine on Sunday, causing damage and knocking out power. There was even a tornado warning in southern Aroostook County on Sunday afternoon, with reports of a brief funnel cloud in Sherman. That warning expired at 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Although radar indicated a tornado, there was no official confirmation as of early Sunday evening. That process could take a few days. There were numerous reports of damage from storms in the northern part of the state between Brownville and Millinocket.

On Sunday, violent and severe storms swept through Maine, causing damage and leading to power outages.

There was even a tornado warning in southern Aroostook County on Sunday afternoon, with reports of a brief funnel cloud in Sherman. That warning expired at 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

Although radar indicated a tornado, there was no official confirmation as of early Sunday evening. This process could take several days.

There were numerous reports of storm damage between Brownville and Millinocket in the north of the state.
