William Henry Penrod, III, 21, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on June 29, 2024, at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.

He was born on February 16, 2003 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to William Henry and Michelle (Fontanez) Penrod Jr.

In addition to his parents, William is survived by a daughter, Terralynn Penrod of Kansas; his son, William Henry Penrod IIII, due in October; his grandparents Rita and William Henry Penrod Sr. of Mount Vernon and Bill and Patricia Maciejowski of Mount Vernon; his brother Cassius Penrod of Kansas; and his sisters Dionicia Penrod and Gracie Penrod, both of Kansas.

William was a member of the West Side Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. He was one of Mount Vernon's best wrestlers. Most of all, William was a beloved son, father and brother. He will be greatly missed.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the West Side Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the West Side Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, with Pastor Trevor Pasley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorial contributions in William's honor may be made to the Penrod family under the care of William Penrod, Jr.
