Jeremiah Davenport (who is 25) had a night to remember during the NBA Draft in Brooklyn, NY, but not because he was selected by any team.

The former college basketball player who suited up for the Cincinnati Bearcats and Arkansas Razorbacks was in Washington Heights with an unnamed, 24-year-old friend in the early hours of June 29. Both men were in a BMW X5 with tinted windows that was double-parked at the northwest corner of Nagel Avenue and West 204th Street, according to the New York Post.

When the responding police knocked on the window of the car (which had tinted windows), they immediately smelled marijuana and saw a loaded firearm in plain sight behind the passenger’s seat. Davenport failed to produce any form of identification when asked, and was arrested thereafter.

Later he was calculated with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, illegal possession of an ammunition feeding device and tinted window.

However, he was released on parole and his lawyer Russel Novack told Judge Marva Brown that there were “serious problems with the search” in this case.

Davenport declined to comment.

The trained senior guard averaged five points per game in 31 appearances for the Razorbacks last year.
