According to a Facebook update the agency posted around 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, the current burn area was estimated at 250.68 acres as of Sunday morning.

On Sunday, June 30, several power outages were reported in the Yellowstone Valley as the Bo Fire raged in the area.



The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation.

“Firefighters will remain on site throughout the day to continue to extinguish the fire, remove embers and monitor upcoming wind shifts this afternoon,” the Facebook post said.

Motorists should be aware that firefighters and emergency vehicles will continue to enter and exit the scene in the area of ​​Skyway Drive or Alkali Creek Road on Sunday.


UPDATE: 8:30 p.m. – The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office said firefighters had the fire well under control after winds died down Saturday evening.

The YCSO says a fire line has formed around most of the fire, but the fire is still very active. Helicopters are still being used in the area to assist with firefighting efforts.

The emergency services are trying to contain the extent of the fire before nightfall. It is currently not possible to assess whether the fire can be contained.

According to the Yellowstone County DES, Alkali Creek Road has reopened and emergency crews are still working in the area.


UPDATE, 7:30 p.m. – Skyway Drive is reopened, but drivers are asked to be alert for fire trucks traveling to and from the fire scene.


UPDATE, 5:30 p.m. – Yellowstone County Emergency Management is calling the fire near Alkali Creek Road the “Bo Fire” and estimates the fire to be about 400 acres in size.

The agency said several emergency crews were on site to fight the fire and that no buildings had been destroyed so far.

What caused the forest fire is currently unknown.

BILLINGS, Montana – The Billings Police Department (BPD) reports that Skyway Drive is temporarily closed as multiple fire crews work to contain a wildfire.

According to BPD, the wildfire is located between Skyway Drive and Alkali Creek Road.

Alkali Creek Rd is closed from Skyway Dr to Warfield Park. Skyway is closed between Alkali Creek and Highway 3.

BPD has not yet provided any precise information about the extent or origin of the forest fire.

The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is not allowing anyone to come anywhere close to the road. Officers are currently blocking the road and redirecting all traffic.

NonStop Local reporter Simran Kumari spoke to a firefighter on Skyway Drive who said it was a nationwide fire and multiple firefighters were on the scene. The firefighter did not name the firefighters.

YCSO reports on social media that both helicopters and firefighters are deployed in the area.

YCSO says there are currently no evacuations planned, but the situation is changing rapidly.

YCSO advises avoiding the surrounding area at this time.
