Noah Fifita, Tetairoa McMillan, Jacob Manu and Gunner Maldonado from Arizona participate in the Big 12 Media Day

At the same time as the rest of the Big 12, the Arizona Wildcats have announced their player participants for the inaugural 16-team Big 12 Media Day presented by Totino's, taking place next week at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

In addition to new head coach Brent Brennan, Arizona will send quarterback Noah Fifita, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, linebacker Jacob Manu and safety Gunner Maldonado as players to the two-day event from July 9-10.

Arizona State, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and Utah open Big 12 Media Day on July 9, then Arizona, Baylor, BYU, UCF, Colorado, Houston, Kansas and West Virginia on July 10.

Fifita, who was also Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and Football Writer's Association of American National Offensive Freshman of the Year, finished his first season as Arizona's starter with 2,869 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 72.4% of his pass attempts. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native is the only UA quarterback in program history to complete over 70% of his passes in a season.

After replacing the injured Jayden de Laura in Arizona's win at Stanford last season from a deficit early in the Pac-12 season, Fifita went 7-2 as a starter and led the Wildcats to a seven-game winning streak to end the season; the two losses to Washington and USC were separated by a total of nine points. Fifita capped his breakthrough regular season with a school- and Territorial Cup-record 527 yards through the air and five touchdowns in a blowout victory over rival ASU in Tempe.

In Arizona's victory over Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, Fifita threw for 354 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, tying for the second-most passing yards in a bowl game in program history.

McMillan, the highest-rated recruit in Arizona football history in the modern recruiting era, will enter his third season as a mainstay in Arizona's offense.

McMillan finished his sophomore season with the second-most receiving yards (1,402) in a season as a UA receiver. McMillan's career-high came in the 2023 Territorial Cup game, when he had 11 catches, 266 yards and a touchdown in a 36-point win over Arizona State. McMillan was selected to the All-Pac-12 second team and earned third-team Associated Press All-American honors.

This offseason, McMillan has earned Athlon Sports All-American honors and was named an All-American by Phil Steele. During spring training, McMillan suffered a leg injury and “underwent a minor procedure,” according to Brennan, but now “it's progressing and he's doing well,” Arizona's head coach recently told the Star.

Manu led the Pac-12 in tackles (116) and was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and the Associated Press All-Pac-12 First Team. Manu was the first Wildcat to lead the Pac-12 in tackles since Scooby Wright III in 2014. Manu was recently named a preseason fourth-team All-American by Athlon Sports.

Maldonado was the team's third-leading tackler (81) last season and had three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles, the most on the team, as Arizona's free safety. Maldonado developed into a productive and reliable defender for the Wildcats and had an 8% missed tackle rate according to Pro Football Focus, second only to cornerback Tacario Davis among Arizona's starters. Maldonado's 87-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Oklahoma, which started the Wildcats' comeback to defeat the Sooners, is one of the best plays in team history. Maldonado was named defensive MVP at the Alamo Bowl.

Big 12 Media Day will be televised on ESPNU and Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, Brennan and a select player will join ESPNU. Brennan will hold an on-field press conference at Allegiant Stadium at 1:20 p.m. to conclude Big 12 Media Day.
