New Jersey man drowns off Milford Beach

MILFORD, PA — A Jackson, New Jersey man who was last seen swimming in the Delaware River off Milford Beach has drowned.

Jeysson Ariel Osorio-Reyes was swimming in the middle of the river at around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, when he disappeared beneath the water's surface. His body was recovered on Saturday evening.

The search was conducted by emergency response teams from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Upper Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River, as well as Milford, Westfall, Matamoras, Port Jervis, Bushkill, Dingmans, Sparrowbush and Huguenot. They searched the river above and below the surface and utilized dive teams and side-scan sonar.

Osorio-Reyes was not wearing a life jacket.

“My condolences to the family and friends of this young man,” the Port Jervis Fire Department posted on Facebook. “Please be aware of the dangers of our beautiful local waterways while enjoying your summer fun. Always wear a life jacket and never underestimate the many hidden dangers and challenges in the water.”
