2 people in Etowah County are charged with animal cruelty.

ETOWAH COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – Two people have been charged with animal cruelty in Etowah County after a video was found on social media.

According to Sheriff Jonathon Horton, the Etowah County Sheriff's Office was notified on Saturday morning, June 29, of a video on social media that showed the cruel treatment of a dog.

By Saturday afternoon, investigators had identified all persons believed to have been involved in the incident and the weapon used had been confiscated.

Charges have been filed against two people. One of the people is a minor and has not been named due to his or her age.

The second defendant is 18-year-old Trenton Dewayne Sudberry of Gadsden.

Sudberry was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center to await bail.

According to official information, “Bullet” has been back home with his family and safe since Sunday evening. “Bullet” is being examined, but appears to be in good spirits and should recover well.

“It's unfortunate that animals are mistreated! Animals can't speak, so we have to make sure we do our best to care for them and be their voice. Animal cases are just as important as any other case we work on,” said Sheriff Horton.
