Montana Public Radio at the University of Montana is launching a new podcast that explores the relationship between human psychology and the climate crisis and asks the question: How can we stay grounded amid growing climate anxiety?

“Grounding: Conversations on Mental Health and Mother Earth” is hosted by Sarah Aronson, a climate-conscious psychotherapist and member of the Climate Psychology Alliance North America. The first episode, “Heat,” airs Sunday, July 7, at 4 p.m., followed by three more episodes in subsequent weeks: “Air Pollution” on July 14, “Youth” on July 21, and “Caregivers” on July 28.

“Outside of MTPR studios, I work as a therapist and listen carefully to other people's concerns,” Aronson said in a UM press release. “When the 2017 wildfires destroyed air quality monitors in northwest Montana, I heard how the smoke affected people's mood, behavior, relationships, and even their sense of existential security. Since then, I've wanted to know: What are the psychological effects of the climate crisis? How can we adapt and cope – both individually and collectively?”
Listen on the radio, online at mtpr.org, and wherever podcasts are available. The trailer for “Grounding” is online.
