Orlando City B beats Atlanta with late goal and shootout in USL

Orlando City Communications — Orlando City B (4-4-6, 21 points) played a 2-2 draw with Atlanta United II (3-6-3, 13 points) on Wednesday night at Osceola County Stadium thanks to a goal by Favian Loyola in overtime. The Lions earned an extra point by winning the penalty shootout at the end of regulation time 5-3.

Striker Wilfredo Rivera returned to the starting lineup after two games with the first team and gave the Lions an early lead in the 11th minute (1-0). Atlanta United 2 scored two goals in the second half to take the game into injury time. However, second-half substitute Favian Loyola scored his 10th OCB goal in the final minutes of injury time to secure the tie for the Lions. Loyola has played for the Chilean U-20 national team for the last 20 days. Rivera scored his third assist of the season on the equalizer.

Jhon Solís, Wilfredo Rivera, Colin Guske, Favian Loyola and Shak Mohammed were the goal scorers in the shootout. Goalkeeper Carlos Mercado saved a shot to secure the extra point.

The Lions' next game is Sunday when Carolina Core FC travels to Osceola County Stadium for the second time. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
