Utah's NHL team starts week in Park City

The NHL Utah Hockey Club held its first development camp practice at the Park City Ice Rink on Monday.

Utah's brand new NHL team, the Utah Hockey Club, started its week in Park City on Monday.

The club held the first day of its youth development camp at the Park City Ice Arena. Thirty-two junior players took to the ice on Monday for two training sessions that included figure skating, offensive and goaltending training. The junior players will take to the ice again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The highlight of the camp is a training game on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Delta Center, admission is free.



The club also held a press conference at the Park City Hotel on Monday afternoon to announce the signing of defenseman Sean Durzi to a four-year contract. The 25-year-old scored nine goals and 32 assists for Arizona last year, both career highs. Durzi, head coach André Tourigny and general manager Bill Armstrong spoke at the press conference about the new contract, the defense unit and everything related to the Utah Hockey Club.

The 2024-25 NHL schedule will be released on Tuesday, but the club's first home game will be on October 8 against the Chicago Blackhawks. For more information about the club, visit their website: http://www.nhl.com/utah/.
