Woman who pointed gun at Falls Township police arrested in New Jersey: police

Karen Stevens-Nunez was arrested Monday morning, July 1, in Trenton, Falls Township police said.

In a criminal complaint, authorities stated that on Saturday, June 29, at 4 p.m., an officer was dispatched for a wellness check. The officer found Stevens-Nunez in the parking lot of Fairless Hills Self Storage at 495 South Oxford Valley Road.

The officer drove behind her car while she sat outside next to the open driver's door, police wrote.

When she pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at him, according to authorities, the officer stopped and told her over a loudspeaker to drop the weapon, the complaint says. Stevens-Nunez then got back in her car and sped away, police said.

A short chase ensued on South Oxford Valley Road, which continued to Trenton Road. Police said she was observed screaming out the window and “displaying the firearm in a cardboard box.”

The officer reached speeds of up to 90 mph before losing sight of Stevens-Nunez on South Olds Boulevard, authorities said.

Police said she was taken into custody in Trenton on charges of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempted elude.
