But if we focus on the diners, whose number has unfortunately steadily declined in New Jersey during this post-pandemic era, who can say which diner featured on the show is the best?

Mashed has an idea in its list of the best diners, drive-ins and dive bars in every state. And you can breathe a sigh of relief—their pick for New Jersey still stands!

Bayway Diner – Linden

Johnny Prince's Bayway Dinerlocated at 2019 S Wood Ave in Linden, takes first place among the New Jersey restaurants featured in the show. In fact, it was the the very first diner ever featured on DD&D!

Here's what Mashed had to say about this gem of a restaurant:

“Johnny Prince's Bayway Diner in Linden serves delicious, home-cooked New Jersey diner classics. It's a casual eatery that serves familiar diner classics, but locals call it “a special place.” While you're there, we recommend you try the Monster Burger with bacon, cheese, and giant onion rings or the Philly Cheese Steak.”

Check out this blast from the past as Bayway became a superstar in the very first episode!

Let's take a trip on the Anthony Bourdain Trail in New Jersey!

“If I advocate for anything, it's for moving. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean or just across the river. Walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food. That's a plus for everyone.” – Anthony Bourdain
