Orlando Brown Jr.'s problems are highlighted in the new OL rankings

There is no doubt that the Cincinnati Bengals have intelligently modernized the offensive line in front of Joe Burrow in recent years.

But everyone in the organization would probably agree that things can be better.

A recent ranking of all NFL offensive lines brought up this very point. Zoltán Buday of Pro Football Focus ranked Cincinnati's unit 21st and singled out Orlando Brown Jr.:

The Bengals doubled down on offensive tackle this offseason, signing Trent Brown as a free agent and selecting Georgia's Amarius Mims in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. But the unit also needs left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to return to form. The former Chiefs and Ravens lineman posted a career-low 66.1 PFF grade in 2023, ranking just 45th among offensive tackles.

It would be a boon for the line if Brown could return to the expected level of play – although his difficulties were not exactly unexpected.

After all, Brown came to a new team and a new offense and then didn't get to work much with Joe Burrow when the starter got injured in training camp. He played with backups, brought the starter back during the season, then lost him again in an offense that couldn't find an identity.

If Brown benefits from a stable group in 2024 and Trent Brown and/or Amarius Mims improve at right tackle, the Bengals will shoot up in these rankings.
