Warrant Officer Trenton Darrow, a 170A Cyber ​​Warfare Technician in the Michigan Army National Guard, took the opportunity to administer the oath of service and induction into the Michigan Army National Guard to his twin brother, Spc. Travis Darrow, at the Lansing Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). Travis will be a 17C Cyber ​​Operations Specialist in the 172nd Cyber ​​Protection Team.

In 2010, Trenton joined the Michigan Army National Guard as a 11B Infantryman with the 125th Infantry Regiment. In 2015, he volunteered to deploy to Jordan as a 13M Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) crew member. During this time, he enrolled in the Army Signal University at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, and earned several network and security certifications. Upon returning home, Trenton completed an internship with Veteran Affairs in Saginaw, Michigan. In 2018, he transferred to the Defensive Cyber ​​Operations Element (DCOE) unit at Joint Force Headquarters. He then completed Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2023, while also earning certifications such as Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) and GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA).

“I had no concerns about sponsoring my brother to join the unit,” Trenton said. “Given the immense opportunities the 17 Series cybersecurity career field offers Soldiers in the civilian job market and the way the cyber protection team treats Soldiers like family, I knew my brother would be treated as a professional, gain important professional skills and network with other like-minded cybersecurity professionals.”

The 172nd Cyber ​​Protection Team leader, Lt. Col. Kathleen Prince-Sayward, was excited when she heard Spc. Darrow was joining the team. “Our service bonds often create a family feeling, and this takes that relationship to the next level,” Prince-Sayward said. “Working with highly technical Soldiers every day further strengthens the bonds within the team. The Darrow brothers grew up in Indian River, near Gaylord, Michigan. “Travis and I grew up as best friends and have a close relationship. It was an honor for my family to be able to continue this intimate moment together,” Trenton said. The Darrow family has close ties to the military, with older brother Brandon serving in the Army as a 31E Corrections Specialist.
