Although he had previously announced that he would headline the 2024 Outlaw Music Festival tonight in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Willie Nelson canceled his show at the Xfinity Center near Boston. Lukas Nelson will once again fill in for his father and perform alongside Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and Celisse.

“Willie Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in Camden on the 4th of July,” read a message from the legendary musician's team on Instagram. “He will not be performing in Mansfield today,” the message continued, without explaining the reason for Nelson's recent cancellation.

The 2024 Outlaw Music Festival kicked off on June 21 at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia. Willie Nelson will have missed the first eight stops of the tour after tonight. “We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and has been advised by doctor's orders to rest for the next four days,” Nelson's team said in announcing that Willie would not be back for the start of the tour.

Fans were relieved when the 91-year-old musician was “cleared by doctors to return to touring” late last week, and tonight's show was set to be his return to the stage. Now, Willie is scheduled to headline his Fourth of July picnic in Camden, New Jersey, on Thursday night, Independence Day.
