Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández are the key to the exciting walk-off victory for the Dodgers

The Arizona Diamondbacks had one base open.

They still decided to make their offer to Freddie Freeman.

In the Dodgers' 6-5 comeback win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, Freeman provided the defining moment in a game-winning two-run rally in the ninth inning, tying the game with a two-strike double before scoring the winning run one at-bat later on Teoscar Hernández's game-winning single.

It was the kind of late-game sequence the Dodgers have perfected of late – the home team thrilled a sold-out crowd at Chavez Ravine and scored their 18th comeback win of the season.

For most of the evening, the two teams fought an exciting duel.

The Dodgers took an early two-run lead, with Bobby Miller preventing a collapse in a two-run fourth inning. Then, after a monstrous two-run hit by Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning, the club's bullpen allowed runs in the eighth and ninth innings to put the Diamondbacks back in front.

However, Arizona’s lead would not last.

With two outs in the ninth inning, Will Smith sparked the game-winning rally by hitting a two-run double off the center field wall.

This freed up a base for the Diamondbacks, allowing them to replace Freeman, the first base slugger who had his best month of the season in June, with a walk.

Instead, Arizona had closer Paul Sewald pitch against the former MVP.

With a 0-and-2 count, the decision backfired spectacularly.

Amid shouts of “Fredd-ie! Fredd-ie!” from the stands, Freeman hit a 93-mile-per-hour fastball over the outer edge of the zone and hit an tying double into the gap between right and center field.

Moments later, Hernández completed the comeback by hitting an RBI single through the left side of the infield, sending the crowd into ecstasy as the club earned its third walk-off win of the season.
